We’ve tried to anticipate some of your questions below and our customer service team are available. Please contact us using fly@powdair.ski and we’ll respond as quickly as we can. Our customer service hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

*UPDATE 28.11.17*

Here is some important information for all passengers booked to fly - or considering booking to fly with us this winter.

We are currently exploring funding options for powdair following the news that our main investor pulled out on Monday 27 November. In the meantime we have delayed our first flights which are now scheduled to start from Monday 18th December. Any passengers who have booked flights with us have two options:

1. Email reservations@powdair.ski to organise a full refund now (we will automatically be contacting all passengers booked to fly between the 11th and the 17th December so you do not need to contact us)

2. Wait until the end of this week for more news as we are hopeful of being able to secure alternative funding by the 1st December to enable us to take off as planned this winter.

In all cases, your money is protected - and you will be entitled to a full refund in the event of us having to defer the start of powdair until later.

We have not ceased operation - or entered into administration - but have just been honest in alerting you to the fact we're now urgently looking for investment.

If you would like to discuss investment opportunities please email us immediately at investors@powdair.ski

We thank you all for your continued support and hope we can make a success of powdair this winter.

The Airline

Which aircraft will you be using?

We are using Bombardier CRJ200 flying from the UK to Sion and from Antwerp to Sion - these are jet aircraft carrying a maximum of 50 powdair passengers. And we will be operating a Saab 2000 turbo prop aircraft on our London City route, also capable of carrying 50 passengers. We've chosen these aircraft for their performance, safety record, suitability for the routes they'll be operating on - and because only having 50 passengers per route means we can deliver a champagne* travel experience on a lemonade budget to all our powdair passengers!

Visit our airport page for more resort news and information

*Sorry, we won't be serving actual Champagne - or alcohol - on any of our flights as they are too short and it would be too expensive for us. But we will be providing you with an inflight snack and beverage to stave off the hunger pangs as you fly with us!

Where do you fly from and to?

Our aircraft will be based at Sion airport, which is in the heart of the Valais region of Switzerland. We’ll be flying direct to six UK airports – London City, London Luton, London Southend, Manchester, Southampton and Bristol – as well as Antwerp. For more information on Sion Airport, visit www.aeroport-sion.ch

Which ski resorts are you near and what are the transfer times?

The Valais is the gateway to the Swiss Alps! Check out these transfer times to just some of the area's fabulous resorts:

Nendaz – 25 minutes

Anzère - 29 minutes

Thyon - 33 minutes

Crans-Montana – 35 minutes

Verbier – 45 minutes

Zermatt – 1 hour

Saas-Fee – 1 hour

Visit our Destination page for more resort news and information.

When do flights start?

Our first flights are due to start from London City on Monday 18th December 2017 with all our other routes starting from Thursday 21st and we’ll be operating our winter programme until April 16th 2018.

Is powdair just a winter airline or will you be operating all year round?

Some of our routes are planned as year-round destinations - these are currently London City, Antwerp and Zurich*. Our summer timetable will probably offer different destinations to our winter programme, with a different flight frequency too - perfect for Valaisans to enjoy a well-earned holiday in some of your favourite seaside destinations. Keep following us for more news!

*Zurich is not planned to start before March 2018

Are there plans to introduce additional airports for the winter season?

Not during our first season, however we will be monitoring passenger numbers across all our routes, in addition to researching demand from other UK and European resorts. We may well introduce additional routes for the Winter 2018/2019 season!

As a new airline, is my money protected if anything goes wrong or you stop flying?

Absolutely. The world is littered with failed travel companies and airlines, however with powdair, your funds are retained by our payment merchant World Ticket and not released to powdair until we have flown you.

"What happens when you purchase a ticket from powdair?" CFO of our ticketing partner WorldTicket, Lars Bloch, explains:

"At WorldTicket we process all credit card payments for powdair. Our standard process is that we do not release any funds until the passenger has flown after December 14th 2017, which means that when purchasing the ticket through our services the passenger is always guaranteed to either get their product or a full refund if necessary.
WorldTicket has delivered industry compliant airline distribution solutions since 2002, and we are connected to all the major Global Distribution Systems for more than 10 years. We are the IT provider for more than 50 regional and mid-sized airlines worldwide, and also provides services for payment processing as we do for Powdair. We are more than 80 people located in our offices in Copenhagen, Warsaw, Kiev, Bangkok and Beijing."

Can children fly with powdair?

Infants under the age of 2 years fly for free with powdair, providing they sit on the lap of the accompanying adult. Children aged between 2 and 16 pay 90% of the gross adult ticket price.

All children must have a valid passport to fly with us.

Buggies, prams and strollers are carried free of charge for children, however will only be taken as hold baggage.

What are the rules regarding unaccompanied children on flights?

Children aged between 5 and 12 years old have the opportunity to travel by themselves by paying an additional fee of CHF 60.00. Please contact customer services to organize this service. Our fantastic aircrew will take great care of our young travelling explorers, but please remember they still need a passport and you need to be confident they can handle flying without you. Children between the ages of 12 and 16 can travel alone but must be notified to customer services in advance of their flight.

How do I check in?

All of our departure airports have either bag drop or check in facilities, but please make sure you are at the airport in plenty of time

Frequent Flyers

What is the powdair Season Pass?

We have a limited number of powdair Season Passes available for our frequent flyers to and from the Valais, which offer a minimum 20% saving on our cheapest published adult ticket price and allow travel between your specified departure airport and Sion on any date during the Winter 2017/18 season.

How much does a Season Pass cost?

Email us at reservations@powdair.ski to ask us to quote for the price of a Season Pass between your airport of choice based on the number of tickets you'd like to pre-purchase (10, 20 or 30 tickets per Season Pass). Prices for a 10 ticket Season Pass start from £1,112.

Who can use my Season Pass?

Only the holder of a Season Pass can actually make flight reservations - but you can use your Season Pass to make bookings on behalf of friends, family - even guests to your hotel or chalet if you would like to be able to offer them discounted travel with powdair.

How do I apply for a Season Pass?

Simply choose which airport you would like to be your Season Pass airport, decide whether you'll need 10, 20 or 30 tickets and then email us at reservations@powdair.ski to reserve your Season Pass. We only have 2,000 Season Pass seats available so when they're gone, they're gone - don't leave it too long to reserve yours!

How do I reserve my seats as a Season Pass holder?

At the moment, you simply email us at reservations@powdair.ski with the dates you would like to travel, the number of seats you require and the names of who would like to make a booking for. Over the coming months, we'll be adding additional functionality to our website and reservation system to make it possible for you to make your own Season Pass bookings - please bear with us in the meantime!

If I don't use all my tickets, can they be transferred to the following season?

No, any unused tickets may not be rolled into the following season and must be forefeited. This is why we offer you the chance to choose between a 10, 20 or 30 ticket Season Pass to minimise the risk of you ending up with unused tickets at the end of the season. Assuming we still have Season Passes available later on, there is nothing to stop you from buying another if you use all of your original tickets!

Will it cost me extra to take my skis or snowboard?

You’ll be able to take one set of skis or one snowboard per flight ticket for free!

Can I fly with my dog or cat?

At the moment Sion airport is not cleared for pet arrivals but we will be working with the airport to try and make it possible for you to fly with your furry friends at some point in the future.

How do I purchase baggage allowance?

23kgs of hold baggage per passenger (in one bag) is included in the fare. Additional baggage and skis / snowboards can be purchased for £10 per 23kgs/ per item. Bicycles are charged at £10 per bike during the winter season and must be in a bike bag or box to be able to fly with us.

How much carry-on luggage can I take with me?

Your hand luggage must weigh less than 6kg - due to the small size of our aircraft, the maximum dimensions for hand luggage are 45cm x 35cm x 17cm. This is smaller than you may be used to so please check your bag will fit before travelling, otherwise it will have to be checked into the hold!

Which items are prohibited on board?

Items that could be used to endanger the aircraft, passengers or property are strictly prohibited on board our flights. These items are individually listed in the Dangerous Goods Regulations of the International Civil Aviation organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The following items are strictly prohibited on all powdair flights, both in the cabin and in the luggage hold:

Can I bring oversized and unusual items of baggage on the flight?

Any luggage that you’re checking into the hold that’s not a suitcase is considered to be oversized or unusual luggage. Such items include infant strollers, car seats, golf equipment, skis or snowboards, musical instruments, etc.

We recommend that items such as those above be packed to withstand normal baggage handling conditions and you’ll be responsible for ensuring your own belongings are suitably packed for travel.

What happens if Sion is closed because of bad weather?

Sion is an airport in the mountains, it will snow and occasionally it will be foggy, which is why Sion is a Category C airport. In the occasional event of poor weather affecting the airport, meaning we cannot land or take off, arrangements would be made to divert to an alternative airport (usually Berne, Basel) or Zurich, with onward travel to Sion provided, by us. We also have a formal agreement with easyJet where, subject to availability, we may be able to get you on the next available flight from Geneva back to the UK. We will inform all passengers affected in good time, and do everything in our power to keep you moving and get you home quickly if there are any problems departing from Sion.

Cancellations & Delayed Flights

I need to cancel my flight – what should I do?

Please refer to the terms and conditions and contact our customer services team at the earliest opportunity.

What are my rights if my flight is cancelled?

If your flight is cancelled, we will always do our very best to inform you of your options as soon as possible. We can either re-book your flight or issue a refund for your unused ticket. But please see the EU 261 document that clearly explains your rights
